Baking time for birthday cake, homemade chocolate- 35 mins.

Making the homemade chocolate buttercream frosting- 5 mins.

Thinking it is bed time. Gosh... getting so old. I mean, I can remember the nights, the Friday to Sunday when I would stay up till midnight, or later.

Now I am hard pressed to make it pass 10:00 pm.

*sigh*

So old.....

Another point this week that backs this up. Waiting around for the customer on the state job for two days- had me singing a song from my child hood.

Care to guess what it was? Yes, it has nothing to do with waiting, but the line just fits what the two days was ....

"Wasted days and wasted night.."

Song is still stuck in my head.

If you don't know the song *I see you typing that into the search engine* then you are way to young to read and understand my 'sleep by 10:00pm' on the weekend rant.

So.... go forth young one, leave the old lady alone...

:P

Any folks who freeze green beans up for winter? I am talking beans like white half runners. Reading a lot about them and half say to blanch them, others say not to.

Which way do you do them? Never done it before but was thinking they would be good for winter time so wanted to try and do some up.

Should of been a restful weekend. Cat and family is out of town so I had the weekend free.

Saturday 8:30 am- I worked doing a survey for a good chunk of money. :) Went shopping for the family, came back to find that Monday job cancel so I spent a hour trying to push up work. Came home by noon and started cooking.

Home made biscuits, round steak in gravy, mashed potatoes with a little buttermilk in them, butter. Then home made cinnamon rolls.

Safe to say by 6:00 pm I was ready to cool off, and enjoy some movies on the DVD.

I was able to get some sleep into Sunday around 10:00 am. :) I cooked myself some bacon and eggs to go with my biscuit, cinnamon roll for a treat after I spent a hour working on the survey. Almost got it done but the part where I need a adding machine/ scanner.

So that leaves cleaning a little, a load of laundry left but I really just feel like a nap. Wanted to do a makeup look but... nap is sounding better. Nap.

Yeap, see a nap coming. Watching True Blood to get ready for the new show tonight. :D

*yawns*

Did I say something about a nap? ;)

Sad what it has come to with the military household shipments. Now the bases, the transportation officers, are just sending out email. Listing the weights, orgin/ destination of the loads, and the dates.

In BOLD big letters- If you would like to haul a shipment but the dates are no good, please call. We can change the dates.

*shakes head*

I know they are saving millions, I am sure. That happens when you cut the rates by 2/3rds. Of course it is also why no one wants to touch them, can make as much on local moves.

But I still think letting the local base handle the dispatching, calling the listed movers, going down the list so everyone got a piece of the pie was way better. And if you refuse more then 3 within a time frame you got 30 days suspension. In other words- you did the work. But at a good pay rate.

And even today they are still paying the three men at the local base, whom jobs were to be 'closed' due to the 'online booking' they went to, the price cuts.

Just a shame to see it get that bad. You would think the military would get better treatment. But then- look at the VA medical news of late so....

Been a busy weekend, right on top of a busy last few days of the week. Sunday went on a trip to take some photos. Got into a old collage buildings/ turned into apartments. Did a stupid walk across two boards over a floor that had fallen into the basement, about a 8 foot drop. Half way across I was thinking "Damn- should of call Cat and told her if she didn't hear from me in a few to come running" as she was in the car a short ways away from the building. But I got over the 'bridge' fine and moved on into the builiding. After a short while I walked back to the bridge, pulling out the walkie talkie to call Cat.

"If you don't hear from me in a few minutes, come find me." "Uhhh... OK." So I hung the talkie back on my shirt front, and put my weight on the board, which is setting on the edge of the broken floor... only to have it slide right out from under me. Nope- I had the good lord and lady with me the first time, not going to make this mistake again. I stood, started to laugh as I was stuck in the building now. "YOU OK?" the walkie spoke. "Yeap, the way I came in is not going to work again. Give me a second."

Now- let's think about this, as I try to calm myself. There is windows, not boarded up. But would have to break them, and jump down about 4 feet into weeds/ grass/ bushes/ trees that have not been mowed in years. No, didn't want to do it to get into the place, breaking someones windows...

Old rusty fire escape ladder on the side of the builing, off the third floor as it was busted open. But then- weeds, field of weeds to get to the side.. rust, metal.. three floors up... I had veto that plan before the walk of the boards to get in.

So.... front door? Weeds/ opens right on street front folks can see, locked. Think... think.. fire escape... first floor. So I got to find the door to the fire escape, which should be only a few steps down if I remember the layout right. I do, just a standard door lock, open the door, two steps down into the field. Time to get some ticks, etc.

I lock the door behind me, as it was, and started the track toward the road. "YOU OK?" "Yeap, I am out, doing good." "Ok." "Just got one other building to check out." "Call me if you need me." Always a calming voice in Cat. :)

So I get to the road and walk a ways up to the last building. Per the windows looks to be the last one closed down, can still see curtains, not as much broken windows. Tried a few doors, moved toward the front to find it had been mowed some.. and a dog. Little thing was so cute till it barked. "Hush hush.. you will get the neighbors looking.." I gave it some water from my water bottle, pat it a little and moved to the only door left to check- the front on. Locked. Oh well, two out of three isn't bad.

So we moved on to another town. And a old church. Seeing the outside I was hopeful... but let down on the inside. Oh well- but still it was a cool little church. Stainglass and all.

Then we moved to our last stop= a old hospital that had been closed since 1983. We pull up, mind you this is on 4th St, so in the middle of town, on a hill side. There is a black man sitting near the only way in, which is a wooden homemade barn style door that was used to block off the driveway into the inner court yard of this H shaped hospital.

I pulled up, window down, asked him if he knew who owned the place. He mumbled to me, then turned away. "Think they would mind me taking photos?" Nothing. So I backed out, and we drove around a little. Once we came back, with a plan, I got out as Cat moved to the driver seat, put the windows up, locked herself inside. I told her to leave the hill side if she felt afraid, walkie talkie in hand, cell phone, and camer- I went to the door with the black man still in place, not saying a word to either of us as we talked to him.

Now mind you- there is folks on the streets around us. Homes beside this place so I knew no meth lab was inside. And from what I had seen of the place from online photos- not in the shape to stay in/ live in for homeless. The black man never creeped me out so... I moved to the door, looking at the opening someone had busted out that would take me bending over to crawl into when I noticed the chain/ lock wasn't hooked thru the holes. The lock was locked, but the chair was just hanging useless on a screw someone had put into the wood to make it look like it was locked up.

Knowing from online posting that the kids in the town would visit this 'haunted' place, I didn't think it was strange they had done this and just lifted the chain off the screw and moved in, pulled the door closed, and put the chain back. I took a few photos, step into one of the two buildings and down a hallway... enough to know I was going to love this place. And that I should of got my tripod and mask. No more then three photos in, adjusting the setting when the walkie came to life. "Cop is on the street." I started walking back to the busted, laying on the step doors I can in as it is aways better to get found outside the place by the police, not inside. "He still there." "Yeap, circle around and it back." I step out, and I can see from the crack in the big doors I came in my car,Cat and a big black SUV behind her.

Cop? What Cop? Who the heck is this? So I come out, putting the chain back as it was to find three men with tatts/ long beards, tshirts. But then I notice the city cop in his car on the street. I started toward the side of the car, to get in, but notice the man in the Driver seat of the SUV hand moved that he had hanging out the door. I looked at the black man, still in his spot, and started toward the SUV as I took it he wanted to talk. Seeing me walking toward him he backed out, making the cop move.

I got into the car and we left. No more then got off the hillside when Cat pulled over to let me drive, then the city cop drives by us, and he shadows us to make sure we was going out of town. Gosh....

Cat thinks it is was a undercover DEA thing, I am just glad it worked out. I had read since on the websites of a few who got in that cops was heavy in the area, to watch out about getting caught.

But who other me and Cat would drive/ walk right into a DEA bust with the black man being the undercover one? lol Oh well... sure my tags got a good check, but as I don't even have a speeding ticket, and looking at me *Think Paula Deen in her butter days* Don't think you could mistaken me for a drug lord. ;)

But I will go back. New plan- Cat drives up, I jump out, she moves to a parking area downtown near the police/ safe place. The walkies work in the area so... just give it a few months, Fall maybe. It really is a great place, been looking at some images online. Place is getting in bad shape tho, roof falling in, etc. The inside is not the best, the kids in the town, etc have done a number on the insides. But still- I just want in now. lol :)

Seems the storm did more then blow out the power. Tree fell on the roof of a rental trailer.

Yeah- get to deal with a insurance adjuster.

My favorite.

Right after lawyers, preachers.

With little sleep.

But at least the man and his son wasn't hurt.

Been reading- seems several business/ homes got damaged last night. The local flea market had several building/ outside covered barn like buildings blow away, fall flat, even damaged the main big building.

And over 6000 folks without power. 4500 still this morning.

Heck of a storm, glad I was home, safe.

Got home last night. Shower, then sat down after putting leftovers in the oven for dinner, to warm up. Storms was right upon us, sister calls to tell me her lights had flicker off and on and it was black outside.

About five minutes later- it was black inside.

Tree down the street fell and took out the transformer/ line.

That was about 6:00 pm. Thank GOD I had a half full kindle battery. Read for hours, till a little after ten which is my normal sleeping time, and the time the kindle ran out of juice. Other then the heat, I enjoyed hearing the storm outside still going at it.

I did go out, when the wind calmed a little and checked the buildings. *When I saw the tree blocking the road, lines down* But other then a thousand sticks, branches, and one tree down we are fine.

So ... wishing I had cooled the house down, but I leave the home on 75 when I am not there, I tried to sleep. You know when you worry about oversleeping, and you can't sleep? That was me for a few hours. My cellphone was set.. but known to sleep right thru that alarm.

But I must of slept as the cell phone ringing around 2:00 am woke me. It was the alarm company letting me know the battery on the alarm only had two hour left. "Ok... nothing I can do about it, not like it is one I can go to Auto Zone and buy. Thanks for calling but .. really? Storm damage has left us without power, we had that talk right after it happen when the system send a trouble report in to you." "Yes, but we have to make you aware the coverage is close to being off the buildings." "Ok.. then.. guess it would be bad to say "Let the damn thing burn!" right?" Long pause... "Of course I am kidding." He telling me goodnight and hangs up.

Great. Sleepy, hot, pissy mood.. and now if the building was to burn, they have me on recording I wished it would. Flip of the sheet off my hot skin, I smiled and gave out a big "Screw you." and tried to go back to sleep. Never knew how black darkness was. Usually I have the air filter running, the router on top of my tall chest has lights... and no noise outside. Even the street light shinning into my bathroom window was gone. :) Loved it. But back to sleep I went.

Little over two hours later the alarm company calls again. "We have to let you know the alarm is out of power. You no longer have coverage." "You woke me up to tell me that? Listen dork, I got it. You are released from any blame if god throws a lighting bolt down and burns the place down. The storm has stop, the building is fine, don't call me again." Hang up on him, rolling over to try and find a cool place on the bed, cussing.

So then I am awaken by a noise... trucks. I had that little day dream *yes, day as it was little after 5:00 am* of someone breaking into the building, hauling stuff off... oh well... *sleep*

About a hour later I am awaken when noise came on. The air filter in my room, clock beeping to be set, even the ceiling light above me. Great, power is back. Little over 12 hours. Way to go KU! I get up, set the clock to later then normal for me, as in 7:30 for me to be at work at 8:00. Really, was makeup going to make a differance today? Turned off my living room light, AC down to 70, my sleeping temp, and bedroom light off- I fall back into bed.

Only to have my sister call and wake me up at 7:00am. "Didn't know if you was awake or not." Grrrrr.... I am now. We get off the phone, both cussing out the alarm system as she was called as many times as me. I close my eyes to only have my cell phone wake me. 15 minutes and the alarm clock will wake.... sleep.... and then it went off.

Drag my butt out of bed to shower, get dress as I listen to the news. Seems a lot of business was closing due to lack of power, day care centers and stuff. Wow. Come to work, driving over the limbs, sticks, to find out of the three guys two was without power. One lost it early this morning, one without and still not on since the storm.

Calling myself lucky. Good to have a KU substation down the road it seems. Bitch about 12 hours but really- I could still be without.

I would reither bitch about eating cold leftovers, and the alarm company. And heat. And not sleeping.

:)

If you read my journal you know how much I love to cook in cast iron. Well I have found a new love. Temptations. I purchased a 25 pc set from QVC and I have used it like crazy.

Really- seems anymore if I cook I use every piece. I bake, roast, mix and store in these.

:)

Wish I had them years ago. Other then a large mixing bowl this set has replaced so much in my kitchen. Be a great wedding/ new apartment type item for a new home owner.

Well worth the cost.

I also, per my sisters, got a Kitchen Aid mixer. And a food processor. I really always wanted a stand mixer and wish I had gotten it years ago. The food processor I didn't think I would use so much but have to say that changed. With me doing some cooking for the family *5 to 7 folks* during the week and on Sunday, I have used these two tools a lot.

Like tonight. While doing laundry I have mixed up strawberry and blueberry muffin bread? cooked in casserole dishes. Used the processor to help make the nice crust topping on them, so much easier then forks to try and do the butter in the sugar/ flour mix. And the family has something for the whole weekend.

Might not of used these two much cooking for one, but with a crowd... I am really grateful for them.

And folks I did not follow all of sudden I am? When did that happen?

Thanks for screwing up a great site Pinterest, way to go.

Dear Makers of Game of Thrones.

My my but you are a busy little bunch of folks. You write a story line that brings you into the lives of some great characters. You cry when something bad happens to them, you cheer when it all goes the way it should. Who can’t remember when the little boy woke up from the fall off the Tower? Or the smile as the little girl got her wish of learning to ‘dance’ with a sword. And who isn’t still cheering for the imp?

But on the other side of the coin you gave us one of the worst TV screens- The Red Wedding.*shivers as she remembers it* You killed off main characters like they are nothing. You expect us to keep watching, to not sit and think “Well- I could like you, but then you will be dead in a few shows so.. Why even try?”

You would think we would learn to not expect anyone to be safe, to see anyone reach the goal in life as far as revenge or killing off the enemies. Like this Sunday show with the death of a brother who came to King’s Landing to honor his sister and her children that was raped and killed. In your typical fashion you built our hopes up, cheering on the good that was winning over the evil to only have the evil come back and gouge out the eyes, pop the head of the ‘good’ with the bare hands of evil.

Most shows today you know the good will win, that the “right” will come out on top. Your show? I think if you sit, think of the most evil things that could happen, you would expect and not be shocked when it happens.

Yes- you keep us going up and down on a roller coaster, unlike any other show on the tube.

Why do I keep watching? You don’t allow any good to win, at least not for long. You show us the evil in its rawest form of power, greed, lust. You overcome any and all goodness the show once had at the start. The Imp is the last of the goodness, the last hope of any caring about if ‘she or he’ lives or dies. Well… I still have hope for the female sword dancer.

Why do I keep watching, I ask myself yet again. I guess to see if anyone every wins against the evil. Or maybe… maybe on the slim off chance the evil will be good at the end?

Instead of saying "Forget this.." I keep saying "See you next Sunday." as I dream the next evil twist you lead us on.

:)
